Art Projects from This Weekend

Here are some of the projects that we got to do this weekend in my art class. I was thrilled to be the art student and not the teacher... it really fed my soul...

In the above picture, we had to do a watercolor painting with only one color and use different techniques.... I used wet into wet paint, dry brush, and salt for texture. :)

 In the picture below, we had to try watercolor techniques. I did rubber cement and watercolor. Then we used line types to create differences in value.... I was in heaven....
 Below is my birdie quilt.... it's made out of scrapbook paper... not fabric... but we had to create a quilt idea using the paper... can you see the birds?
I loved this weekend's class because t actually had something to do with what I do for a living.... if they would let us do art classes for professional development, I would be on fire for teaching...but instead we sit and listen to math crud... I am so excited right now and loving this.... I wish the school districts could understand that artists need to be fed...not transformed into classroom teachers.... Staying home to oil paint tomorrow and enjoying this creative high for one more day before it is stolen by math and writing!

Hi, Cha Cha,
I can feel your love of painting all the way to Rehoboth, MA by looking at the dearest blue petals of your creations. The birdie quilt is so fun...and it reminds me of this poem by Emily Dickinson:

Hope
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Love ya, you future proprietor of Cha Cha's Art Studio
