Here is the scoop. During the school year (about 2 months ago) I got bored with my ride home and decided to take a different route to spice things up. It was a little bit out of the way, but traffic moved along ok and I was much more entertained by the people and sights. During my first day on the new route, I drove by this lady, who I thought was a brazen hooker working her corner in the middle of the afternoon, and almost crashed in shock. I quickly realized that she was a manikin, but why was she there? I had a mystery to solve.
I took the same route home the next day to see if she was out. Sure enough, she was out in her waving stance, holding a coffee mug and dressed in a new outfit and wig! I was enthralled... It was at that moment that she became my new obsession. I vowed to drive by her every day to check out her new hairstyle and outfits.
Today was our first visit to the new coffee shop (Colfax and Elm) to visit Louise of "Geez Louise Coffee". The coffee shop has only been open for 3 months, but Louise is making quite a splash! According to the owner of the shop, who I talked to at length, people have been donating clothes, wigs, accessories, and stopping by to take pictures. One local artist is actually working on a collage of Louise for the coffee shop. Others have made dresses specifically for Louise, and some have stopped by to borrow her dresses for special events. The owners of the shop had originally planned to stick her in the corner of the shop. They put her outside one day on a whim and she got so much attention, that they now put her out daily.
Louise recently got a tattoo from a local tattoo shop who offered to borrow her arm for a couple of days and make it look spiffy. In Louise's absence, people stopped in to make sure that she was ok!!....and it looks like I am not the only one who mistook Louise for a hooker.... according to the owner, several cars have stopped and rolled the window down, and sped off quickly upon realizing that she was not a real person!
I know that this is all very silly, but she makes my day, and apparently, I'm in good company. The rest of the community is really enjoying her as well. The coffe shop is really nice with great stmosphere, yummy coffee, pasteries, and sandwiches. I look forward to stopping in as much as I can.
Enjoy the pictures....stay tuned for an update on her latest ensembles!

Hey, Pants! Louiz-zee is quite the girl! I think you were meant to take that new route--yay for folks who think to do the unexpected! Sometimes when we take new routes we are "driven out of our old ruts!"
