Memoirs from the Hell-Hole

The following pictures give a fairly accurate picture of Taunton...Although our house is really nice and well taken care of (as are others)...The residents of Taunton are plagued with the sites below..... I think there should be some sort of uprising...to take the power back! Unfortunately, most residents of this failing city seem to have had all hope beaten out of them. That's how I felt before I left. After living in a clean, well run city like Denver, my return to Taunton has sparked a sort of outrage for the residents who no longer have the will to defend themselves... Don't be fooled....this IS a sidewalk.
Residents, and all who pass through Taunton bounce around in their cars until they are sick while driving on patchwork roads....
Well... this 1 minute from our house...when I offered to paint a free mural here years ago, the city turned me down.... have we NO expectations anymore?
This is also a sidewalk in case you were wondering.
Anyone have any tar?
The pictures below are pictures I have taken all within 5 miles of our house. When you no longer have use for something, you leave it somewhere else and hope someone takes it. If they don't, you just leave it there until it disintegrates....or doesn't. Most couches will disappear, but the mattress and TV will probably just stay there for months. (it's already been 2 weeks)Apparently this is the city where trash and useless goods come to die.

The above picture is just a few streets away. Apparently someone didn't want it, so they smashed it on the side of the road...a perfectly normal response to having a broken T.V....right?I love how the owners of this house probably put their old TV out hoping someone would take it, and someone else drove by a tossed another one into the yard to keep the big TV company. It was actually pretty thoughtful. The weird thing is, that there IS actually a phone number you can call when you have to get rid of oversized goods. I'm not promising that if you call the number, the city will actually come and get your stuff.... but it's worth the effort isn't it?...ah, maybe not....or MAYBE nobody can call because they have all smashed their phones and left them in the road! Must be it!!

That's so sad, because it looks like it could really be a beautiful town.

i found a couch the other day when i was riding my ORSE in the town forest. i thought it was nice someone had left it there for riders to have nap.

The one of the house with the mattress and maybe old carpeting out front looks like something out of Good Will Hunting.

It does make you appreciate Denver. We have similarly sad sights in Oklahoma. On any given dirt road (as nearly 80% are) you find abandoned trash, furniture, cars, mobile homes, etc. Suddenly, the construction on every street in Colorado doen't bother me.

Sadly, this is all so very true. Taunton and Fitchburg are truly the "Twin Assholes" of Massachusetts. Sad, really. Hooray for Taunton!
